Purchasing and Deposit Information
We accept cash and credit cards through Square and Paypal as well as cash or money orders. All purchases and deposits $10 and over through Square and Paypal Here (credit card readers) are subject to an additional 2.75% charge.
Chinchilla kits are generally ready to leave mom at 2 months of age at least and 200 grams in weight.
DEPOSIT INFORMATION: Deposits are non-refundable for ANY reason unless we decide to keep the animal for breeding or show or there is a health problem preventing the sale of a healthy animal. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made otherwise, not even if you change your mind. Deposits to hold a chin are 50% of the purchase price. The purchaser must keep in contact with Beachy Keen every week and if there is a lapse in contact for 2 weeks, Beachy Keen will assume the animal(s) to be abandoned and any money received for the animal will be forfeited entirely to us and the animal(s) will be relisted for sale or adoption.
**The chin or kit MUST be picked up by or within 2 weeks of the agreed upon date or all money received for it will be forfeited entirely to Beachy Keen and the animal(s) will be relisted for sale or adoption. No animal can be taken home or delivered without being paid for in full first (money orders and online payments must be cleared first as well).
DELIVERY INFORTMATION: In the event a purchaser wants to meet or have us deliver a chin, the delivery costs will need to be paid up front and are non-refundable for any reason. Delivery fees vary upon the distance and time and will of course differ for each purchaser. In the event that you, the purchaser/adopter, do not show and arrangements for delivery (delivery costs need to be paid upfront again prior to delivery) or pick up have not been made within 24 hours, Beachy Keen will assume the animal(s) to have been abandoned and all money received for the animal(s) will be forfeited entirely to Beachy Keen and the animal(s) will be relisted for sale or adoption.
IF YOU WANT A REFUND: Beachy Keen only issues refunds for animals that have perished due to no fault of the purchaser/adopter (i.e. genetic disorder). In this event, the purchaser/adopter must pay for an autopsy proving Beachy Keen to be at fault for the death of the animal and a cop of said autopsy must be provided to Beachy Keen within 1 week of the autopsy. If we are found to be at fault, we will issue a refund, less any delivery charges applicable, within 2 weeks. We will not be held responsible for a lack of care on your part.
Now, having said all of this, we have never had to cancel a transaction of any kind or issue a refund for an animal for any reason. This fine print serves to protect us and our animals if need be. Other breeders we know have had issues with things like this or made suggestions on how to protect ourselves and our animals and we have these in place to prevent issues for us and our buyers.
Our animals wellbeing is a priority to us. We reserve the right to refuse an adoption and or cancel a transaction if we feel the animal will be put in any kind of harms way.
We do NOT ship our animals!
In the event that you are no longer able to care for your animal, the animal needs to come back to us. This is on the adoption/purchasing contract needed to be signed prior to taking an animal home!
We strongly encourage adopters to research chinchillas thoroughly. They are picky little creatures and have demands that differ greatly from a cat, dog or hamster. To prevent vet issues later down the road, we also suggest calling vets in your area to see if there is an exotic certified vet able to see your animal in the event of any injury.
